The AP3 mid and long irons are a hollow blade construction, which allowed engineers to create a low, deep CG position that makes the longer irons extremely forgiving and easy to launch. Weight also has been pushed to the perimeter of the clubhead to further increase MOI, and the construction approach enabled a thinner clubface that’s creating more ball speed and distance. Additionally, the long and mid irons feature a slightly longer blade length and tungsten weighting in the heel and toe to maximize performance and deliver more consistent results even on poor strikes. The short irons, meanwhile, feature smaller blade sizes and a more traditional construction that promotes enhanced control on scoring shots. Add it all up and you have the distance, launch, and forgiveness of Titleist’s AP1 irons plus the clean, classic shaping of its AP2 irons, which is ultimately how AP3 earned its name.
With the M1 Driver,
TaylorMade is doubling
down on sliding weights
used to tweak ball flight.
One slider runs from
heel to toe, which effects
shot shape. Positioning the 15-gram weight creates draw/fade bias. Placing a second 10-gram weight toward the back of the head adds dynamic loft for a higher flight while setting it closer to the face delivers a lower flight.
crown. Whereas the
M1 transfers the weight
savings to moveable
weights in the sole,
the M2 shifts mass low and away from the face, to maximize forgiveness. A redesigned channel on the sole boosts ball speed on shots hit low on the face while the face itself is thinnest towards the edges to maintain speeds on heel/toe hits.
After 6 years of development - the introduction of BORON to Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forging process allows the JPX-850 Forged to overcome the distance limitations of traditional forged irons.
Only our greatest breakthroughs are worthy of being called an R. 15 years of our groundbreaking metalwoods technologies from the #1 driver in golf have been fused with brand new innovations into a single, game-changing design. Our dual weight system combined with moving the track closer to the lead edge leads to a more forward center of gravity.
